Zanubia began studying Middle Eastern Dance with Meara of Dallas in 1975. She attended many seminars with the Masters of the Art such as Ibrahim 'Bobby' Farrah, Serena, Morocco and Jamila Salimpour. She was particularly influenced by Jamila Salimpour and her troupe Bal Anat. Zanubia was very active in the Dallas dance scene for many years, performing at private parties and Belly Dance seminars as a solo artist, as a duo with her friend Justine and as a member of the Marrakesh Dancers.
After a few years away from the dance and a move to the San Francisco Bay area, she began studying American Tribal Style Belly Dance with Carolena Nericcio of FatChanceBellyDance. After returning to the Dallas area, she continued her ATS training with Daungerous at the Desert Dancer Studio in Bedford and danced with the student troupe, Daughters of the Desert. She was the Director of her own American Tribal Style troupe, The Tribal Crones, before her recent move to Helena, Montana. See two of Zanubia's choreographies for the Tribal Crones on YouTube. Zanubia also studied with Meleea of Rockwall, Vashti of Dallas and Tambra of Dallas and danced with the Egyptian Connection dance troupe. She attends workshops with the master teachers of today and continues her ATS studies by attending workshops with Paulette Rees-Denis of Gypsy Caravan and Carolena Nericcio of FCBD.
